Professor James Lohrey

Prof. Lohrey received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from the State University of New York at Buffalo in Media Study and Theatre. He is currently working on completing his dissertation in the Media and Communication Studies Program at IUP.   He previously taught electronic media production, film studies, media writing and broadcast journalism courses at Mercyhurst University in Erie, PA, Mansfield University in Mansfield, PA, and St. John Fisher University (College) in Rochester, NY.

Before starting in his academic teaching career, Prof. Lohrey worked as a production assistant at WKBW-TV (the ABC affiliate in Buffalo NY), wrote a bi-weekly film column in a small entertainment newspaper in Buffalo and assisted on various film and video shoots. While in college, he participated in his college’s radio station as a DJ.  He currently hosts a weekly podcast, 80s Lost Hits, that airs on WSYC. 

 

Caitlyn Shetter

Hey there! My name is Caitlyn and I am the general manager of our lovely station, WSYC 88.7 FM. I began with the station as a DJ and then worked as the program director for the past two years. I am a senior CJM student with a concentration in public relations and I have a minor in creative writing. My show is called Pump up the Jams and it airs Wednesdays at 8. When I’m not in the station I’m either with my friends, reading or writing, or tuned in to our amazing DJ’s shows!

Hello! My name is Madison and I’m a senior Communications, Journalism & Media major with a concentration in Public Relations. I’ve been a DJ with WSYC since the spring of 2023 and held the Human Resources position during the fall 2024 semester. I host my show, Rose Radio, every Saturday, so feel free to tune in :) Besides music, I also enjoy reading, photography and traveling!

Hi there! My name's Emily Brewer and I am an English Major here at Ship with a Minor in Women & Gender Studies. I'm the Human Resources Director this year, and I've been lucky enough to be a DJ with WSYC for about a year now! I seriously love getting to share music on my show Sundays., which airs on Fridays at six pm this semester, so tune in if you'd like! Aside from this lovely organization, I spend my time writing, coloring, and reading as much as I can.

I have been a radio DJ for seven years, but this is my second year at WSYC! Outside of hosting my show Whiplash, you can find me marching with the SUMB, reading, or thrifting. Hey! I'm Cyrus and I'm a senior Communications, Journalism and Media major with an emphasis in Visual Media and a minor in Music. When I'm not running our news broadcast or my personal show The Mix, you can find me doing photography for The Slate, working as the Publications Chair for Ship's chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi, or performing with several of the University's music ensembles.
