A weekend early morning crash shut down King Street (US Route 11) at Lurgan Avenue in Shippensburg. At 5:26 am early Sunday morning, Shippensburg Fire and Rescue were dispatched to the intersection of King Street and Lurgan Avenue for a vehicle accident with entrapment.
Firefighters from the West End Fire & Rescue Company in Franklin County, Shippensburg responded as it was right down the street from their fire station. Shippensburg Area EMS also responded to the accident.
It took approximately 15 minutes for the accident victim to be extricated from the vehicle. Shippensburg Area EMS transported the victim to Chambersburg Hospital in Stable Condition.
There was no word on what caused the accident, Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the cause of the accident. At this time it appears distracted driving may have been a factor in the accident.
King Street reopened around 7 am after the accident was cleared.
